The Mount Errigal Hotel has seen record results in occupancy since it opened in 1984. The hotel puts this down to a whole spectrum of of reasons, one of which is the change in the Sterling to Euro Exchange rate. The Sterling to Euro Exchange rate is now approximately 20% which offers guests from the North of Ireland excellent value for money in accommodation, food and drink. For the same period last year (First two weeks in July) the hotel's bookings from the North was only 7% of booking, this year it has increased drastically to 70% of all bookings coming from the North - over all booking have increased by more than 400%!
Over the past 6 months, many hotel's in the South of Ireland tried to compete by reducing their rates in an effort to encourage Northern Ireland guests - many of these reduced rates and deals are still available!
One of the most popular breaks that has been booked is our 'Donegal Escape' which offers two nights B&B and 1 Gourmet Evening Meal from just €99 pps. The hotel has also seen a great difference in the packages that people are booking...last year most of the bookings for B&B only, but this year, people are booking more packages which offer the best in value.
